Curefest is about advocacy. Its purpose is to raise public awareness about childhood cancer, advocate for increased research funding, and bring together families, advocates, and government officials to speak as one voice for childhood cancer research and legislation. We will be there this year too. Find our table and show us some love.
FIRST EVER CHILDHOOD CANCER SENSITIZATION IN RURAL NIGERIA
We will be in the villages of Abak, Ika, Etim Ekpo, Oruk Anam and its environs to raise awareness for childhood cancer.
This event will be rounded by a free eye screening for children aged 1-18 at the local health care center in Etim Ekpo.
The hope is to begin a project that will garner support to reach every village in Nigeria and change the mindset with regard to 'strange diseases' thereby increasing the outcome for children wit cancer through early diagnosis and treatment.
